Walking is one of the easiest and most accessible ways to improve our health. It boosts cardiovascular health, lifts mood, and enhances sleep. Through the Walk-A-Thon, we’re raising funds to create a sanctuary for Detroit residents, where they can walk, connect, and thrive in a space free from outdoor obstacles.

You'll receive an event t-shirt, swag bag, and access to refreshments upon check-in.

Yes, absolutely! The Walk for Detroit 2025 is a family-friendly event. Participants of all ages are welcome, and we encourage families to join in the fun.
While we love our furry friends, pets will not be allowed on the event route due to safety and health regulations. Service animals are, of course, welcome.
If you’re unable to complete the walk due to fatigue or any other reason, a sweep vehicle will follow the last participant to ensure everyone can safely return to the start/finish line. Additionally, we’ll have rest stations along the route where you can take breaks as needed.
Please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes. Since the event is rain or shine, you may want to bring a light jacket or poncho if there’s a chance of rain. We also recommend sunscreen and a hat for sun protection. Don’t forget your Walk For Detroit T-Shirt!
You can create your own fundraising page when you register online. Share the link with friends, family, and coworkers and encourage them to donate in support of your walk. Every donation helps bring Greenwalk-Detroit closer to reality!
Yes! We’re looking for sponsors to help cover event costs and promote their businesses while supporting a great cause. Yes, we’re always looking for volunteers to help with event setup, registration, route marshaling, water stations, and more. Yes! Light refreshments will be provided throughout the event, including water and snacks. There will also be food trucks and local vendors on-site for participants to purchase additional food if desired.
The Walk for Detroit 2025 Walk-A-Thon will take place rain or shine. However, in the event of severe weather (such as thunderstorms, high winds, or extreme heat), we may need to delay or reschedule the event. We will communicate any changes via our website, social media, and on-site announcements.
The registration fee for Walk for Detroit 2025 is non-refundable and will be treated as a donation to support the Greenwalk-Detroit initiative, regardless of attendance. If the event is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, participants will receive a full refund not including any credit card processing fees if charged. Participant substitutions are allowed until June 7, 2025, and the event will proceed rain or shine unless severe conditions arise.
Yes, photographs and videos will be taken during the event for promotional purposes. By registering, you agree to our Photo and Video Release Waiver.
We are closely monitoring the current public health guidelines and will follow any recommendations from the CDC and local authorities. Depending on the situation, we may implement measures such as mask-wearing, social distancing, and hand sanitizing stations. We’ll provide updated guidelines closer to the event date.
